The Sandhills are gold by maggiemae

The Sandhills are gold

Working our way down the west coast of the North Island we arrived at Parpaparaumu - not sure how many “papa’s are in this name! Its really become just a coastal suburb of Wellington. However my sister lives here and although she plays bridge, I won’t hold that against her!

This shot was on the coast at Otaki Beach where you can see the island of Kapiti and there were flowers growing wild all along the sandhills!

Three good things:
1. More information about the lahar hillocks in the area north - solidified mud flows.
2. In the small town of Bulls there was a lot of clever naming - "Const-a-bull”. the chemist - dispense - a -bull; the rubbish bins, Dispose -a - bull. The greengrocer - veget - a - bull. etc!
3. Had no time to surf 365 being in someone else’s house as guest and they don’t do computerese! But hoping I can tomorrow!
What a lovely color combo going on here. Gorgeous view!

@happypat Thanks Pat - cross over the strait today and home on Friday! Don't know if I'll be pleased or sad! Sisters aren't always friends but one does try!

Very pretty and I like your POV. I am so impressed with your persistant posting. I have come to a point of pulling from my catalog occasionally. The days are so short this time of year. It does not help that I stay up till the wee hours off the night.

@trm Thanks for your words TR! I do what I can with posting but my secret is to always post the day after and I compose what I say on a 'note' then just copy and paste the day I actually post

Lovely colors here. Enjoy your trip across the Cook Strait and welcome back to the ' mainland'. I'm sure you will capture an image of the moody Marlborough Sounds although I think it's due to rain.

I forgot to comment on the Bulls names. When you have this surname you get used to playing with the concept. They are very clever.
