What next... by maggiemae

What next...

Nothing like showing the birds and the bees when all else brings a blank!

This little sparrow has bitten off more than he can chew, I think1 That piece of dead grass was at least 3 metres long!

Three good things;
1. Skype with Canadian family finds they are staying in an amazing outback territory when we come to stay - ‘Algonquin’
2. Less inspirational are black flies and mosquitos in this area in June. — I think i’ll bring my own netting!
3. Our printer won’t work - no ink! The good thing is that we can go downtown five minutes away and buy some more cartridges!
Haha great capture of this funny moment Maggie!

Cartridges are so expensive here Maggiemae, I never know why they cost so much specially if you get the approved ones. That littke sparrow is playing tug of war! Are you going to Canada in June or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

@happypat You are at the right end of the stick, Pat! Canada in June. Our cruise leaves Apr 21! The printers themselves are so cheap but then you have to keep buying cartridges which are expensive!

He's an optimistic guy! Good for him. I saw a squirrel with a huge branch the other day - branch was at least four feet long. Some have more determination than others.

I like a guy with lofty goals!

@allie912 You think he might have some scissors up there in the nest, Allison?
February 11th, 2016
@maggiemae Maybe if he were a crow!
February 11th, 2016
Maybe he's planning on doing some weaving. Cute shot xx
February 11th, 2016
Bit ambitious with the nest building. Great capture
February 11th, 2016
What would we do without our little birds? Perhaps he's good at weaving!
February 11th, 2016
I love the comp in this. I wonder if a sparrow can weave a piece of grass that long into a nest? Btw, Algonquin Park is a wonderful place!
February 11th, 2016
Great shot, textures, pov...big appetite for a small bird :)
February 11th, 2016
Lovely detail. I hope he didn't trip himself up!

Ambitious bird. Cute shot.
February 11th, 2016
How funny - I think he has bitten off more than he can chew!!
February 11th, 2016
Sweet shot of a little sparrow with great ideas -- is it nesting time -- he is trying to gather the material in one go !!
February 11th, 2016
It's going to take a while to weave that into a nest but you've got to admire his ambition!
February 11th, 2016
I was thinking nest too, but it must be the wrong time of year at your end of the world. Good capture.
February 11th, 2016
this has a vintage feel. that little bird is planning on being very busy!
February 11th, 2016
@tristansmum It's Algonquin is it - thanks Stephanie - will edit!
February 11th, 2016
@jokristina It is Jo - middle of summer really! Maybe their eggs hatched and the young birds left home and they need to have another family!
February 11th, 2016
I was wondering like @beryl if he might be trying to build a nest! He blends in right well with the tree trunk! Terrific shot!
February 11th, 2016
Great capture. I thought the same thing. Is the bird trying to build a nest?
February 11th, 2016
Wonderful shot. I like the lines of the branches and green textures.
February 12th, 2016
The bird's coloring blends well with the branches.
February 12th, 2016
@redy4et Yes you are right, Elizabeth! I saw this bird and swung my camera around hoping for focus!
February 12th, 2016
I find birds so tricky to photograph, you did well Maggie! I sympathise with your no. 2 good thing re flies, we are at a resort in Ulhuru and are plagued by them. I do have a fetching pink fly net as they're incessant.
February 12th, 2016
Haha... He blends in, which is helpful to him, but makes him elusive to the lens!
February 12th, 2016
Even without the bird, this would be a great scene, the. Colors are rich and relaxing. Lovely
February 12th, 2016
Lovely capture and great textures on the branches.
February 12th, 2016
Great shot.
February 12th, 2016
This is one little cutie, a great shot.
February 12th, 2016
Great capture.
February 13th, 2016
A very ambitious little sparrow. Hope he managed to get it safely wherever he was taking it!
February 13th, 2016
She blends in with the tree very well. At first glance I didn't see her. Love the bark texture
