At First Glance...

Its Homer on the Kachemak Bay surrounded by mountains, spruce forest and glaciers. Visiting museums once again to learn of the life that people had so many years ago on this harsh territory. This area has obviously developed the artistic side to those living here nowadays and the art is just beautiful! But I can’t fit a large stained glass into my bag!

This was a photo I took first thing from out of our cabin balcony.

Three good things:
1. Put my feather duvet on ( winter coat) but it was too hot even in this area!
2. A popular bumper sticker characterises the town as “Homer” - A quaint little village with a fishing problem”
3. Saw lots of sea otters floating on their backs - looks so easy!
How frigid looking!

Beautifully edited. Wondering if that's a boat in the middle of the picture?

A very beautiful sea green glow gives this photo a sort of fleurescent feel. The littke boat gives great perspective. It looks cold & remote.

@happypat It is cold and remote but beautiful landscape - high mountains and still lots of snow around and recently too!

@gijsje Yes it was a wee boat - I think our ship had organised two guys to come and do some painting of the side of the boat from that boat!

Oh, what a coincidence! My youngest is going to work on organic farm, this summer, in Homer, AK, departing in a few weeks. This midwestern St. Louis mom is hoping that there is a hospital nearby... just in case. ;) I just love our international connections!

Oh, just amazing that you are there! My youngest is going to fly to Homer, in about 10 days, to volunteer on an organic farm for a bit this summer. This is my first view of it, so THANK you! The dock is lovely, with the help of your processing. I really enjoy the tiny boat, on the left of your ship, too. This may be as much of Alaska as I am likely to see, so I am enjoying this view through your camera. :)

@rosiekerr That is going to be VERY interesting for your son/daughter? Its an isolated community but very supportive of anything that will help the community! A great artists talent here too!

@maggiemae My daughter. I hope I am not committing parental malpractice (?) by putting her on an airplane and shipping her off to strangers - although she has talked to them, they have passed a criminal background check, appear sweet on Facebook and there is a nearby hospital. She is intrepid and I am proud of her. Glad they love the arts... she does, too.
