Monsieur Starling by maggiemae

Monsieur Starling

Someone must have told birds that there was treasure in our lawn - there were starlings, chaffinches, sparrows jumping around all over the place. I looked out 1/2 hour later and there was none!
I do admire the neat configuration and colours of this noisy and common bird.
Three good things;
1. Did some more spraying - weeds still grow in winter!
2. Played the piano for an hour - very calming.
3. A thick lamb chop for tea with mint sauce!
Much prettier marking than I realized.

Monsieur Starling may be a common bird, but he is really beautiful, but noisy indeed...

What wonderful colours you have captured, they really are such under-rated birds!

Lovely detailed capture. I do not like starlings but always think they are a lovely colourful bird when the light is on them..

I rarely see that wonderful, colorful, patterned body like you have so beautifully captured. Stunning, really.

The trouble with them is that they overrun the nice birds. We've been inundated with Boat-tailed Grackles this past week- 1,000's of them! It was awful. Chased all my sweet little chickadees away and everyone else. But it appears they've moved on. Thank goodness. The only non-lethal method of getting rid of them was quite expensive! Good shot. And thanks so much for the fav on the sunflower.

What a beautiful bird. I didn't realise they were so colourful. I like your 3 things. I also play piano but don't often play just for pleasure. I play piano/organ at church now and again.

@busylady You are probably much better than I am! I make up my music using a score sheet and nobody knows what I am playing!

@olivetreeann These birds make nests in the roof getting through any tiny space that they can!

I find it amazing that your starlings are so similar to those in the UK with those markings and the rich colour of their feathers. Great shot.
