The Masked Rider by maggiemae

The Masked Rider

Tried two photos for a diary - the first golden daffodils this season and up through the blossom tree, some tiny buds developing. But not happy with those for 365. So my mind wandered after looking at a superb photo of water crocus on a pond…

Three good things:
1. My ‘pond’ was just a black plastic lid and I put some of these lovely pansies into water that I had added. The spider was a surprise!
2. I see the spider was emulating the Lone Ranger - masked and approaching the world on the safety of a velvet petal!
3. The spider ‘rode’ the flower to the edge of the ‘pond’ and scrambled off and disappeared! The Lone Spider will ride again!.
Nice surprise to find a photo bomber in your picture. one has to read the three good things as they all pertain to this picture. fav.

This one certainly had me guessing!

At first I thought the spider was Yolanda! This is so effective Maggie, you have some great ideas! Will catch up with your photos soon!

@summerfield I would have too but he was too quick for me!

Lovely shot Maggie.

@happypat Nice to see you back on 365, Pat! I'm going to disappear on Saturday as going on a remote cruise in Fiordland for 7 days. No cell coverage or wifi!

Bep
Just as @happypat I first thought the spider was Yolanda.
Very creative shot.

@gijsje I'm not going to tell Yolanda that you thought she looked like a spider, Bep! She would be most hurt!

@maggiemae it sounds wonderful Maggie & the photos should be tremendous!
August 16th, 2016
@happypat I won't be able to post till about the 28/29th though!

Reprieve for the spider, but that pansy is superb.

What a stunningly clever shot

Amazing -- thought initially this was a spider. It makes for a wonderful abstract.
August 16th, 2016
Great idea for a photo set-up Maggiemae and the resulting image confirms it!
August 16th, 2016
Neat image and your three good things story is great :)

This is so stunning. I can't think of a time when I have seen a photo with such a stunning flower and a beautiful spider.
August 17th, 2016
@flygirl Thank you Dee! I got so close to the pansy with the spider on top that I just about fell into water!
August 17th, 2016
A wonderfully unique combination creating a beautiful composition.
August 17th, 2016
Very creative.

Bev
Great shot, Maggie. The spider is a bit freaky, but it works.

Wonderful shot fav
August 17th, 2016
Super nice job, wonderful treatment.
August 17th, 2016
Great capture . Love the lighting
August 17th, 2016
@prttblues I can't help nature, Bev! If the spider wants to be on 365, then that is what happens! I just didn't know he was masked until I downloaded!
August 17th, 2016
The Lone Ranger & Tonto, but I do not see Tonto.
August 17th, 2016
Mystical
August 17th, 2016
@peterday Now Peter - everyone knows that Tonto is a fictional character! There is no fiction when spiders make an appearance!
August 17th, 2016
There is a strong sense of evilness in this.
August 17th, 2016
@yaorenliu Now thats a good word - think it should be used at least once a day, Yao!
August 17th, 2016
Awesome shot
August 17th, 2016
@maggiemae I would rather listen to a ukulele, than look at spiders
August 17th, 2016
Dark, mysterious and dramatic - not the usual words to describe happy pansies but you have achieved each one. Naughty spider or clever spider?
August 17th, 2016
Well done! Dramatic lighting and color.
