A real bird.. by maggiemae

A real bird..

...and not a concrete bird. The wax-eye feels very superior!
Honey soaked bread meant that the wax-eyes and the sparrows competed for it but I preferred to shoot the sweet little birds also called 'silver-eyes' and 'ring-eyes.
Three Good Things:
1. A nice walk up to the post box.
2. The time to experiment with the camera
3. Another great Granddaughter for John! He's now got 19!

i rather like the high key treatment. the other bird isn't real, right? and congrats to john on the new granddaughter!
September 19th, 2016
@summerfield I poked the other bird in the beak and he didn't move so yes, he's not real.. And as John says - he had nothing to do with it!

Great capture of this interesting bird - I can see the ring, and the silver.

The eye and the profile shape of the real bird are delightful.

A trapeze acrobat bird! I love the little birds with the rings round there eyes! I think the waxwing is wondering what's wrong with that stuffed one!!

September 19th, 2016
@happypat The birds all avoided this feeding plate for months because of this silly parrot like sculpture! And thanks for the congrats but we have stopped counting with 21 grandchildren!

Such pretty birds. We have some that look very similar and are known as 'white eyes'. For such little birds they make quite a lot of noise.
September 20th, 2016
Ours don't make much noise, Sally - just a soft tweeting! @salza
September 20th, 2016
The real bird must thinking the other bird is so rude.
September 20th, 2016
@yaorenliu Or else he doesn't have bird language or a stance that protects his own area! YUP!
September 20th, 2016
Pretty catch !

19 grandchildren, you said? Amazing! I only have two but they live very close so I see them almost every day. Only this morning I took them out with me to look for Pokémon (not me, them - I don't even understand the game). Beautiful capture and at first I thought they were both real. Love that eye.

September 20th, 2016
Stunning. I love the light and colors.

September 20th, 2016
Bright and cheerful. Birds have such a hard life but always seem to be upbeat and chirpy.
September 20th, 2016
@sangwann Thank you Dione for your comment - all our grandchildren live miles away from us!
