I’ve been putting out birdseed on to a table and just watching the sparrows squabble over it. But today a big blackbird came near and sat in our waratah plant to look around! I hope he stays - love the blackbird song!
Just noticed now that he looks extra nice on the Black!
Three good things:
1. A baby rabbit huddled on our lawn - we are in a town - and of course John got the rifle out. The rabbits tend to eat the new rose shoots. He missed of course.
2. Attempted to mow the lawn but it was too wet - had to put the mower away! Hooray!
3. Found my old 2003 diary and spent some time reading it! A big year and I won’t go into it here!
Spectacular picture of your blackbird. They aren't easy to capture either for some reason black is a very hard color to photograph but you haven't let that stop you.
@lbluejaye8 Also, Jaye'' Tennyson: "O blackbird! sing me something well:
While all the neighbours shoot thee round,
I keep smooth plats of fruitful ground,
Where thou may'st warble, eat and dwell"
This is a very good shot, at first I saw just the greenery and it took a second before I saw the bright yellow beak, and eye with catchlight to realised it's a Blackbird. My favourite bird, they sing wonderfully.
Would be nice to see the flowers.
While all the neighbours shoot thee round,
I keep smooth plats of fruitful ground,
Where thou may'st warble, eat and dwell"
