First Church by maggiemae

First Church

This is First Church in Dunedin and the spring growth is appearing on the trees.
We are in the midst of a journey to the Big City (Auckland) to visit aged sister-in-laws, one who is 86 and in rest home and another who is 90 and is not in a rest home.

Three Good Things;
1. We are not aged.
2. Everything went tickety tock with no problems in spite of a very late arrival
3. A movie to pass the time while we waited for our car to be serviced. BJB.
sounds like a grands day and I really like the spire appearing out of the trees for this shot A wonderfu composition

Lovely contrast between architecture and nature.

@julzmaioro Thanks Julia - Auckland is my least favourite city with its endless traffic, smog and tons of people, very slow internet, expensive cafe's etc! Its just a duty visit on our behalf.

Wonderful capture! Pretty scene.

So did you fly, yes must have done as its such a long way by car. A very splendid tall narrow spire & it looks particularly good behind the new leaves of Spring. You live to a ripe old age in NZ...why am I not surprised! Have a nice break even if it only means some good hotel breakfasts!

ah, springtime, isn't it? only cheese and wine age, non?

@hrs Actually it was cold, Helen - a cold wind was blowing from the south!

@maggiemae Dunedin is my favourite international airport...I reckon from the time the tyres hit the runway till you are in your hire car is about 7 minutes AND the airport staff have SMILES!!! A beautiful city and I can understand how you prefer its quiet to the bustle of Auckland. You live in a very pretty region, I hope to get back there one day.

I like the way the spire seems to be popping up from the trees. It's a beautiful scene.

Love the spire details and the grey tones...great image

I like the way the sky looks behind the spire and the tones of the sky and the spire are so close.

Stunning composition in this scene of quiet beauty!

Beautiful capture of this lovely scene. Well spotted and captured.

A lovely church - I cannot agree more about how busy Auckland is, although as long as you know where you are going it's not so bad!

Love the way you've composed this Maggie and springtime. That feels a long way off here at the moment!

@happypat Breakfasts have been a bit poor - forget to buy stuff in and end up just having a banana for the meal! John's mother was 99 when she died but his father only 78.

@hrs It is so easy getting a flight from Dunedin, yes! And Invercargill is even better - 7 minutes away from the city!
October 28th, 2016
@maggiemae ..meant to ask you do you think there's something fishy about that Sebastian in our latest book, he seems too good to be true for my liking!
October 28th, 2016
@happypat Oh, Pat I have to confess, I felt the same and flicked the pages forward and found out! Aren't I naughty! I don't care. Now I know and you don't - yet!
October 28th, 2016
@maggiemae no I can't flick forward so well on a kindle like you can in a book, I'm not enjoying this one quite as much as the others I've read I'm afraid. Can't wait until the 3rd Nov when third seven sisters book is released.
October 28th, 2016
@happypat Have to agree - but love the description of scenery etc. You can buy that third book on Amazon, I think!
October 28th, 2016
@maggiemae Yes it's out in the U.K. Next week, I have it on ore order so it will arrive on my kindle as soon as it's out! I'm up to the part in the book where she has married Sebastian & arrived in England.
October 28th, 2016
Pre order!
