I’m a bit emotional now - three of my friends have had very important people in their lives , gone.
I tried to explain to John that emotions are good to experience and not to avoid. It made me feel as if I had a small part in their lives with following their stories.
This photo may mean there is a golden future for them beyond these trees which are is my only horizon here! I used a yellow hue over this scene.
Three good things:
1. I went looking for a particular fruit drink I read about - called “Almighty” and has a cold pressed process working for them rather than adding preservatives or having to be refrigerated all the time. My choice was carrot, orange and tumeric -the latter I’ve read is very important to life!
2 Went to the movies (car was in service again) - this time a book I’ve read. “Light between Oceans” the book set in Western
Australia but shot in various parts of NZ. Super - both John and I used our tissues!
3 Knowledge, no matter how small!
I read that book too a couple of years ago, K believe the film is lovely but bound to be a weepy! I might go next week with Lesley. Love the high up row of tree tops all lined up letting that light through the branches.
I know when you get to our age it's all downhill! Quite upsetting really!
i, too, enjoyed that book. i yet have to see the movie. if you had a cry then it must be a good movie, because my impression of you is that you're not the crying type, nor is mr. cool. sorry to hear about your friends' loss. i was told a while back that at our age, we have to expect losses constantly; makes us appreciate our time while we're still lucid i suppose. cheers, my friend.
@summerfield I get teary at some things, Vikki - like a beautiful boy's choir or school kids running a race and being cheered on - and sad and beautiful things like the movie. John does too strangely enough - mostly about his family when he gets emotional about them! Just appreciate our health too!
beautiful shot maggie, and i like that yellow hue. am always a bit uncertain about seeing the film of a book i've enjoyed - and i would be bound to need a whole box of tissues - but i might give it a go
It seems that every age has something beyond which we can't see but the older ages carry more weight- perhaps uncertainty? I like the shot- it's very appropriate for the thought behind it. And also very pretty!
Beautiful image and great processing!! Yes it can be sad when we loose friends and family and quite scary. I decided last year with my sister's cancer to try to enjoy every day and do as much as we can while we can.
A beautiful composition and the yellow sepia brings out your distressed state -- so sorry Maggiemae about the emotional state caused by the loss of dear friends -- but unfortunately as we grow older this is very much how it is !
A great and thoughtful tribute Maggie and I really like the yellow hue. I haven't read the book yet it's on my list. I think I shall have to put it up to the top now.
That line of trees is quite interesting, nice tones here and processing and a nice use of photography to express yourself.
Regarding your #1, I have been reading about tumeric lately, meant to be very good for you. I have been enjoying it in the morning with lemon juice and hot water along with ginger, cinnamon and honey. I use fresh tumeric if I can get hold of it. If I can't I buy it in powder form from the health food store. At night, it is very nice in hot milk with cinnamon, ginger, honey, star anise and a bit of black pepper which apparently aids with the absorption of tumeric. I find I sleep really well after one of these.
After all these years you had to explain that to your husband?... I know, I know ... its no business of mine to try to peer into other peoples relationships.
