Lobby of the botel we were staying at. This guy sitting here had a sad story to tell. His wife fell down those stairs behind him and I was just behind. She was lying on the floor and looking shocked. The ambulance was called, the medics came in and apparently smacked on the side of the face to see if there was any reaction! She was taken away and into hospital. Later that evening I asked him how things were and he came over and had a long chat with us in broken English. He was a Mexican and over to see his son in Munich. Just about in tears at one time saying how his world had changed in a moment!
Three good things;
1. Wife was OK after lots of scans but had to wear a neck brace for some days.
2. It was a wakeup call for us to be extra careful!
3. Didn't buy any Czech crystal in spite of wanting to. Too risky in a small suitcase!
How sad to hear that somebody was hurt while on holiday. I can imagine all the effort they made to come to Europe and visit their son in Munich. Take care of yourself and enjoy.
You have to be so careful, one slip & you could be dead! How unfortunate for them both, should be out enjoying themselves with their son & family. I expect the hotel were worried a bit too, health & safety & all that! A slap seems a bit drastic, don't be falling about in Prague, wouldn't like to be slapped!
@happypat Left Prague now and right up a mountain in Switzerland! With being so careful around steps! Too far up = 2100 metres to survive if we fell out of the window!
@maggiemae I fell on a slate courtyard and did a face plant. I had a trip to the ER for facial stitches and broken nose. Flew home and was very sick, then an ambulance ride to another ER. Bad concussion, chin rash, bruises, stitches, broken nose, aches and pains. I looked like I had been in a bar fight...and the bar won!
glad that the woman was okay. smacking the patient isn't one of the things taught to us in first aid! doubt it was standard procedure! i better ask my instructor.
