This part of NZ is a no exit part - you can go as far as you can but you have to come all the way back to Westport before choices. 90km driving up several high 400 metre saddles and along coastal roads like this.! Quite dramatic.
Three good things;
1. My lung problem thought to be caused by coal smoke was not. A very sore throat and a cough caused a disruptive night. Good thing - a nanna nap.
2. The people up here are friendly but keep to themselves. A smile goes a long way!
3. 4 Square Stores.
A perfect title -- I love the sense of the bumpy road , the sea mist rising to the mountains and obliterating part of the view ! A very moody / mystical scene ! fav
A rather remote area, they won't get too many tourist along that road then! The road looks in very good nick, no grotty one way track there then! A smile always goes a long way I think! Sorry to hear you have a cold but better than smoke inhalation! Beautiful cool layers!
@happypat@happypat Well up here,is the beginning of the Heaphy Track - a walk over mountains that takes about 5 days so keen walkers arrive here by car - or by plane. Population only 625!
That is stunning, the light, the mist, the layer upon layer, the road winding through. Love it! I do hope you feel better soon, that cough doesn't sound like fun.
it looks magical, especially with the mist farther back. love the action of the water you caught in this shot. gives off a mysterious feel especially with the gleaming foreground. aces!
A magical image of one of my favourite places to visit. Driving the Karamea bluff can be challenging though. I have driven that road on a dark and rainy night back in my working days!
Gorgeous shot.
