High up in the Southern Alps, these endangered birds live. They used to torment tourists, pinch their lunches, rip off the rubber on the window wipers but now there are notices everywhere to say, do not feed the Keas!
On this visit I only saw one who flew in, waddled about and turned his back on me. John said "Hey come on, turn around so Margaret can get a good photo!" He did!
Three good things:
1. The most delicious chicken or steak pies made with short pastry and not puff!
2. A fabulous old historic hotel with so many museum pieces, there is hardly any room to sit at a table!
3. Going to make a book called "The Fabulous Adventures with Captain Pugwash" ( the name of our motorhome!
You will have plenty to fill that book with , that is for sure. What a great bird to find in the wild. I'm liking all those different greens on his feathers.
What a lovely bird! Sorry to know that the species is on the endangered list. Hope the numbers increase - and soon. Love your capture and your story. Fav.
That book will be a best seller Margaret, lovely to see a photo of this elusive bird, you were honoured to see it here in its native environment. He looks quite a character! Bossy too I think!
I imagine your book will be a bestseller!
