The Old and the New

A cold windy walk took me up the road just a short distance to a new subdivision.
The walking/bike trail runs alongside this and I always viewed this farm as green fields with this old farming shed in the middle.
Now this new housing development runs right past the shed looking so modern beside the age of the shed.
Houses as seen below are so close to each other! Not my cup of tea!’
Three good things:
1. Our internet has been a huge problem dropping out all the time. Today it was off for hours! On the 5th phone call to Spark, we got it back - temporarily!
2. No wind early this morning so got a bit of moss spraying done!
3. Shetland is on tonight!
It is a shame to see all the nice farmland getting gobbled up by these subdivisions .. happening around here as well ..

@julzmaioro ....and the houses are so expensive too!

Interesting the closeness of the two types of structures. A great way to show the difference in ages with the inset. I should think it would be difficult to sell the new ones if they are so close together.

@grammyn I think people just accept that this is the way to live now and choose the house because they want to live in it as its so new and so well built. But living isn't just a nice house....!

The new houses are so close together, I agree. Such a shame to pay the high prices and have neighbors just a few feet away!

@louannwarren Living in each other's pocket, thats what I call it Lou Ann. However people can choose to buy an old house with a good section for a lot cheaper. But even then - they subdivide and get a house a few feet away from them!

@digitalrn I'd imagine the farmer is now quite rich, Rick!

@maggiemae you are so right about that!~

Neat contrasts...Urban and suburban homes seem to built close together on small properties.

@seattlite Good for the councils,- more rates. Good for the building business!

Big changes in the neighborhood- I hope it doesn't muck up your traffic conditions like all the building around here does.

@olivetreeann The road outside is always busy, Ann - lots of trucks as well as cars! Good thing we have double glazing!

It seems that’s the way of things now, big houses but no space between and a postage stamp for a garden. Nice capture

that's progress for you. depends where you stand whether it's good or bad.

@summerfield I suppose it means the town is going forward and not backward, Vikki!
