Sometimes the best pictures arrive in the late afternoon or early night. Like this one!
Three Good Things;
1. Given a box of Turkish Delight years past by my sister who died 2 years ago and every time we have this most delicious treat, we remember her! Actually more often by me (almost every day!) than eating this sweet treat!
2. The longer speed you choose, the more you have to stablise! Tripod.
3. Putting lemon juice or/and in dishes makes a subtle difference! …..eg. Whisky Sour!
My Dad's favourite sweet treat too! Always fascinating reading your three good things list. Smiled at the whisky sour! I thought for a moment this photo was by CC Folk - she favours strong colours like this too. Lovely.
Tripod?? Always think they're overrated, too much hassle and time consuming, until I take dozens of fuzzy shots so in long term I realise I'd have saved time by using the blooming thing in the first place. Beautiful sunset
A beautiful evening sky , Maggie . Turkish delight always remind me of my Mum and Christmas , it was one of her favourite treat which as I remember we only had at Christmas ! -- Such more of a treat than chocolates !
So beautiful! Well I have to Google Turkish Delight! It must be wonderful! Mother and I made fudge every year and she made wonderful divinity, so those are my memory-filled candies.
I love Turkish Delight too. When we lived in Cyprus there was a village called Yeroskipos where they made Turkish Delight so we used to call it Yeroskipos Delight. ha ha. Cyprus is now split, Turks in the north and Greeks in the south, so I suppose it should now be called Greek Delight
@maggiemae I have a good tripod, used once or twice maybe. When I sold all my Canon gear and went to Fujifilm (mirrorless) I took a conscious decision to try to keep all the weight and clutter to a minimum for whatever it was I was trying to do. I have a very secure wrist-strap screwed into the tripod mount and have found I much prefer that to a neck strap. There are trade-offs, (no long lenses, long-exposures, etc) of course, but that way works well for me. Some years back I lugged a 7Kg back-pack full of photo gear to the Philippines to spend time with my son who was there at the time. I swore I'd never try to do anything like that again!! It was a pain in the metaphorical posterior and I'm too old to be a pack-horse now.
@golftragic I think what you have said is the reason I have kept to one lens. A good trick is to put the strap behind your neck, hold the camera out as far as you can and look at the screen. I also find trying to melt into a brick wall helps too!
Don't you agree that capturing stars sounds more romantic ;-) ?
Sweet memories of your sister
That whiskey sour sounds so good!
