The First.. by maggiemae

The First..

Our garden is a garden in progress - mainly by my hubby who has discovered the creation of a good garden! But it is how a garden can become work free and so neat.

This is one of the first rhododendrons to come out in flower.

Three Good things:
1. There are lots more buds.
2. Bare feet all day - so warm!
3. Olivia Newton-John - 3rd lot of cancer - she is amazing and has a history of music and songs that we all know!
Very cool to see this in bloom -- the beginning of spring.

John has go the gardening bug I see....well it's a great time to be outside. Spring gives you a real itch to get outside so good to put all energies into making a beautiful space outside! Your rhododendron looks in fine fettle!

@happypat Our roles are reversed. I can't do bending any more with my buttock muscle injury - until it fixes itself so I make the cocktails for the Busy Gardener1

Very pretty!

Pretty and can't wait to see it full of blooms as we descend into losing all flowers for the season

Very pretty

Very pretty and colorful! I think I'm going to call in the towel on gardening. It's just too crazy to fight the deer over the flowers. I'll uproot them next year and give them to a gardener who doesn't have to deal with them.

@olivetreeann Rip'em all out and replace with: Ash (European) Beech (European) European birch, river birch, yellow birch, paper birch. Sunburst honeylocust. Japanese maples. Tulip trees. Sugar maple, red maple. All deer resistant species!
September 17th, 2018
@olivetreeann ...and I think you might mean "throw in the towel' means...abandon a struggle; admit defeat. Or you could put up a notice saying 'all deer straying on this property will be shot and barbecued!

A good sign of better things to come. I'm with you about minimum work gardens!!

A lovely shot of this beautiful blossom and lovely to see a filled frame. I Love Olivia Newton-John, such a pity about her cancer though :(
September 17th, 2018
@ludwigsdiana I like a filled frame too, - you can see the flower or whatever in its natural surroundings!

Beautiful bloom and lots of buds...I will dearly miss my Azaleas next year.
September 17th, 2018
This going to be a spectacular display when all the buds come out - the promise of great drama is already there.
September 17th, 2018
@gardenfolk Are your azaleas moving out?
September 17th, 2018
@maggiemae Yes...my husband took them out. We had a white and crimson bush. :(
September 17th, 2018
@gardenfolk Thats a shame! I found one of mine had a branch that had created roots on it so I shifted it to another place to see if it will grow!

A lovely time of year to do a spot of gardening now that Spring is here.

Nice processing.
The pencils I have have been collected over years and were bought for birthdays and Christmases and before I knew it I managed to collect 400. I use them all depending on what is being coloured they all have different ways in which they lay down colour.

Very pretty! I like your focus!

VML the red stems; this must look stunning when the blooms have finished flowering.

Looks like you are going to have quite a show here.
