Yucca by maggiemae

Yucca

January seems to be when our Yucca flowers bloom and they are definitely worth a photo! I could probably do something more artistic with them but this is a diary shot.
Three Good Things:
1. My fitbit gave me a ‘boom boom’ when I completed my 6 hourly challenge!
2. One’s imagination never stops.
3. Memories.
Very pretty. We had one of those in the yard of our previous house.

What a beauty.

Ooh my Fitbit sends up fireworks when I get to 8000 steps! Nothing like a bit of encouragement! Your yucca has pretty flowers, is this at the front of your house? Trying to imagine where this is in your garden, near your front door?

@happypat
To the left of the front door, Pat. The stalk of flowers grows in December and flowers in January!

Great capture of this healthy looking Yucca plant #2 Indeed.

How beautiful! I didn’t realise what lovely flowers the yucca plant gets.
January 11th, 2019
They are beautiful desert plants here, perfect for our dry climate. Yours are beautiful.
January 11th, 2019
@louannwarren They are in a dry area here, Lou Ann - so its good I don't have to water them!
January 11th, 2019
They are lovely flowers. I don't recall ever seeing yucca flowers before. Do they have a scent?
January 11th, 2019
They are making a wonderful display Maggiemae. I've never seen one as big as this before.

Such a wonderful display Maggie ! - beautiful blooms !

like Babs, i have never seen flowers on a yucca plant before. they look quite prolific . you clearly have green fingers.
January 11th, 2019
@helenhall Nope, my fingers are always covered in chocolate, Helen!

A very pretty image

Such a beauty, so tall ...
January 12th, 2019
They're cool plants for sure!
January 12th, 2019
there are so many blooms on it! Great shot
January 12th, 2019
Beautiful blooms! Fav.
What kind of 6 hourly challenge? I haven’t gotten dressed or left the house in 2 weeks with this nagging cough.
January 12th, 2019
@gardenfolk I have to do 250 steps every hour for 6 hours, Cc! Not much really but it gets me off the couch. Bother that nagging cough!
January 12th, 2019
Beautiful blossoms, and don't they smell heavenly?
January 12th, 2019
Lovely shot of these beautiful blooms.
January 12th, 2019
@aikimomm You know, Phoebe - I hadn't smelt them so I tried right now and .... no scent! Perhaps because they are so old!
January 12th, 2019
Nicely captured. They are so cool when in bloom.
January 12th, 2019
Very interesting MM, I need to check it out, but I think your yucca and ours are quite different plants. I like the flowers though.
January 12th, 2019
@golftragic The Yucca type is amazingly diverse! Even the Joshua Trees in the amazing USA Park of the same name are Yucca!
January 12th, 2019
@maggiemae Even more interesting. Thx MM.
January 12th, 2019
@maggiemae An interesting idea but that is 1500 steps and they say you should walk 10,000 steps a day. I need to get back to that to lose a few pounds. :)
January 12th, 2019
@gardenfolk Who is 'they'? I know what 'they say' and also they say you should drink 2 litres of water a day! I don't agree. You should be happy with the challenge that is possible and happy with your own body, regardless!

I can tell you where the 10,000 steps came from. It was a number pulled from the air as a marketing campaign in the 60's in Japan before the Olympics. You might find this article interesting: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-42864061

Lovely shot of the yucca in flower. It just cascades flowers, doesn't it? Gorgeous

What a lovely flower!

We had some yuccas at the pace we lived before this house. I miss them in the garden. I loved seeing how tall the blossoms would get. Yours look great!
January 13th, 2019
@olivetreeann We have also managed to shift some to a new position and after a couple of years they are just starting to grow!!

It is so nice to be following people in other parts of the world where there are flowers blooming gloriously this time of year. Thank you. It is 16 degrees F here and my plant leaves are all curled up to try and keep warm, especially my rhoddies.
