Guess.. by maggiemae

Guess..

what is played here!
Our first night was spent in the grounds of the local Balclutha Club and after an evening glass of wine there we returned to our van. This little sign on the roof beside us was lit by the evening sun.
Three Good Things:
1. I walked over1.2km just packing the van with food and last minute stuff.
2. A delicious fish and chip lunch with battered pineapple! A tad rich for my tum!
3. Everything we need in one spot. There was a tough and gusty wind here which kept blowing our satellite dish awry. We gave up and lowered it down. Didn't miss it.
I love this, Maggie! The light on the bowler and that incredible sky, oh my!

The obvious guess would be lawn bowls but the scenery around looks more like a golf club, ha ha.

Memories flood back with this shot! In my mid 20's I used to play Crown Green Bowls at the local club overlooking a small lake in a park fewer than 5 minutes walk from home. I came second one year in the Club Championship. My opponent was left-handed and I realised, too late, the implications. Happy days.

@s4sayer Well, why aren't you playing now, Margo? No bowling greens in France?
February 6th, 2019
@aikimomm No Phoebe - it didn't move an inch in the gale force winds we had. And it did look old so its been there a long while!

Very cool shot MM, love the light. Is Balclutha in Dunedin or Invercargill, we've played golf in both places and that name is familiar.
