We parked by the roadside in a parking spot and walked along to the restaurant where we were meeting friends. Unfortunately this spot was on the road to the Port and being a very busy port, there were huge truck and trailer units speeding down the road - about every few minutes - and - all through the night! Not much sleep.
In the morning, being Saturday there was a popular market and a car had parked right behind our van locking us in! We called police - not interested unless it was a stolen car - called the Council who then called the Parking Services.
In the meantime John had got into this car as it was unlocked but the steering wheel was locked. We were able to push it further back allowing us out. The Parking men came and as they couldn't ticket the car as it was, we put the car back in the original position. Photos then taken and a tow truck organised!
Three Good Things:
1. The market was super - fresh veggies and fruit and warm crusty bread.
2. Lunch by a park was tender radishes, red tomatoes and crusty bread made from kumara.
3. Changed the noise problem for another. Our next Camping park had a huge hedge and very soon we found out why. The train comes right beside the camp! Not very often though.
Glad John was able to solve the problem since no one seemed to want to help you out. Motor home adventures. I enjoy your stories along the way.....wonderful capture
This is a beautiful scene, and your narrative was quite interesting! Hard to imagine what someone was thinking to park right behind you -- nice that you managed to get the situation handled. It sounds like you are certainly having an adventure this trip!
Pitty about the noise...
