Having to do to everything with phone now as present camp has no Wifi. This was our last site parked beside a huge lake called “Ellesmere”. I used my zoom for this shot. All Maoris here, wading out into the shallow (obviously) water to set nets. They did this at least twice a day!
Three good things;
1. This was a free site but did have good toilets!
2. Watching the lake change with shadows, light and wind.
3. On the way here went to an historic pub for a grand roast dinner!
They must eat a lot of fish- or sell it at a market. And there must be a lot of fish in the river for them to cast nets twice a day. I do wish there was a little more of that bird in the shot- but I love the color of the grasses on the far bank. Glad it's turning out to be a good place to stay- it sounds interesting to watch this. Good shot.
