History - who doesn't love it! by maggiemae

History - who doesn't love it!

A recent project in our town has been this Waterwheel. Its taken years but finally after a lot o skilled help and support its taken its place in history here where it began. Fields of green, and a small creek that doesn’t dry up and sometimes floods.
Listed as Category 2 with Heritage New Zealand, the wheel was installed at the site of the Phoenix Flour Mill in 1878 and used to power the mill before the mill building was removed in 1905.
A wonderful picnic place in the sun.
Thankful for:
The art of relaxation…. not sure I’ve mastered this yet!
Waterwheels are so fascinating to watch. A lovely image.

Rapt to see something like that restored and working again.
November 13th, 2019
@golftragic This one is not actually working as is another one in the district. Just restored. Who grinds the grain now, though?
November 13th, 2019
@maggiemae OK, it's restored but not working. No problemo. But, as you asked, who's grinding the grain? Nah, just enjoy the restored beauty.
November 13th, 2019
@golftragic I've got flour in my pantry - how did it get to be like that? I guess an alien just popped in and sat on it!
