This is coming into Oamaru from the west looking towards Oamaru. The trail extends miles back into the mountains and starts underneath NZ's highest mountain, Mt Cook. Then it winds its way past three lakes, through historic sites and down green valleys to Oamaru.
For @leananiemand to show her one of the beautiful trails in NZ - just one!
Thanks Maggie, this sure is beautiful!! My only concern about coming to NZ is that everyone is saying how expensive it is!! Well see what happens, I never know where I will go next. :-))
@grammyn Hell, no, Katy - hadn't you got the impression that I'm old? But seriously in the past have done lots of trails several times but in the last few years, just a 15 - 20 km is my distance! Mind you, I would be able to go a lot further on my electric bike!
@leananiemand It is expensive if you dine in the restaurants, cafes and stay in hotels/motels. The average price for camping is $17 to 25 per person. Food cost is good if you go to a supermarket but a delicatessen is expensive by my standards. Good for a treat!
@maggiemae you have me laughing out loud! I know you are old but you do so much and the electric bike is what I had in mind when I asked the question! I have faith you could (and would) do it if you put your mind to it Maggienae! ;~}
