The Supervisor by maggiemae

The Supervisor

This bird was way up high overlooking an historic wharf in Oamaru where 100s of birds choose to be their home! I have posted one recently of one without a head, poor chap! You can see by the stripes that various birds have a choice of supervising!
oh Maggiemae - I am a fan of the comorants/shags - never know which ones they are but I watch them for ages - such wonderful birds - this is a stunning image

Great shot. While I reflected yesterday I spotted two with wings hung out to dry. Like Annie D I love watching them.

@ubobohobo We could do this after a shower, Margaret? Stand there with our arms out to the side?
April 13th, 2015
Great detailed capture Maggie . Not sure about the shower idea. I think I prefer a towel!!
April 13th, 2015
@thistle But then you eventually have to wash this towel, Joyce! Just think of the energy saving!

Love those feather highlights. I get a bit muddled but this could be a juvenile 'black shag' or a 'little black shag' - dont think it is a pied shag and definitely not a spotted shag and now I'm all shagged out as far as shag id goes.
April 13th, 2015
@snaphappi Oh, please don't go out on a limb for me, Maggie - one pied shag or whatever shag is enough!
April 13th, 2015
@maggiemae Meant to ask - how do you get that lovely halo effect
April 13th, 2015
@snaphappi I do 3 shots on the camera and process it in photomatix, Maggie- there are a few displays that you can choose to your own idea!

A superb capture Maggiemae !! -- all your shag banter in front of such a stern looking bird !! -- no wonder he is looking p--- off !!
April 13th, 2015
@beryl Love your comment, Beryl!
April 13th, 2015
@maggiemae Thanks for that, I can see I'll have to get a lot more technical to achieve this.
April 13th, 2015
@snaphappi Post editing is good to achieve a great picture but I still think it is cheating - not fine camera tuning and choice!
April 13th, 2015
Cool shot, Maggie - love the detail
