I'm not moving..

A wee waxeye was waiting (in previous photo) while Stewart Starling wouldn't move from this bowl of honey'd bread!

This photo also looks great on the black.
Fabulous detail! Fav!

Great capture, Maggie. I love how its feathers are metallic looking. They may be considered a pest, but they still make great photo subjects.

absolutely stunning - a special capture

Love the way the light picks up their iridescent colours. Just googled a waxeye, they're very sweet and pretty.

We have loads of starlings at the moment. they don't seem to have a civil word to say to each other. they argue and fight all the time! This is a great shot it's not easy to capture the colours in their feathers as well as this. Fav

@thistle thank you Joyce for your comment! I don't like starlings also - they are rude crude and unattractive in character - but not in feathering!

Great chat. Fav

This looks wonderful on black - love the sheen and colour of his feathers. We have them in our garden too, bullying the smaller birds away from the feeders - couldn't agree more Maggie and Joyce

they are very pretty birds when they quit bickering and hold still.

Nice shot. The feathers look so metallic they almost look painted.

Oh, a bird standoff - how exciting! I don't see these birds in our area of the U.S. Great detail captured on both photos!

Love the deep color and sheen! It's beautiful.

Beautiful light in this one as well but the bird is not nearly as cute!

The plain ordinary Mr Starling is not so plain after all!! He is beautiful when you look closely! They always look cross & bad tempered ....the bully boys of the bird world!

what fantastic colors
July 22nd, 2015
@happypat He looks belligerent here, Pat - there's nothing left in the dish but he's not moving to let little Miss Waxeye in.

That bird looks determined!! I saw two morning doves building another nest in our yard this morning, but I am afraid I scared them away taking photos of them with my bazooka of a lens! :-(((

Fantastic starling photo. So cool to see these birds as up close as your camera is able to bring me.

@mcsiegle thank you Mary! Getting good light seems to be the key to getting a good bird shot and that's not always available!
