The Courthouse by maggiemae

The Courthouse

I do like getting these beautiful classical buildings in a photo without pedestrians! Was just lucky in this one but it was taken during the Oamaru's Victorian Festival and there were several groups of people strolling around in full Victorian or Edwardian dress!
What a beautiful building and I love the creamy b&w processing.

Very cool building - is that an art exhibition? It would be great to see some Victorian or Edwardian dressed people too.

Your processing creates a classic look for this building. Really well done.

I like the architecture of these old buildings.

Great building. Is there a kind of art exposition?
January 9th, 2017
Beautifully shot Maggiemae!

wonderful building and a great find for black and white!
January 9th, 2017
What wonderful architecture. Great capture and perfect for black and white

Nice picture. I love imagining what the codgers (apparently they are) are doing sittting there blocking the door. I know that reality is probably more drab than the story possibilities.
January 9th, 2017
Such an impressive building captured perfectly to show it off. I wonder what the people sitting outside are doing?
January 9th, 2017
@gijsje Yes thats right Bep! Lots of paintings up for sale!
January 9th, 2017
@flowerfairyann @francoise They do look like old codgers! Ha ha! But they were waiting for people to buy the paintings that were outside for sale!

A fabulous image done so well Maggiemae. All the better for the dearth of people in it!

What a beautifully proportioned building? Furthermore, I like seeing it being used. How else will we value and treasure them for future generations.
January 9th, 2017
@s4sayer Its actually not being used - waiting (for years!) to be strengthened to earthquake standards, Margo!
January 9th, 2017
Great shot
January 9th, 2017
Good grief! Hadn't thought about earthquakes...something of an anathema around here. Having said that, on Saturday there was one such in Brittany, our region. Nothing felt here, a tickle in the scheme of things and more like alarmist propaganda. Thought to be to due the unseasonally mild weather, the huge amount of stone megaliths deep below Breton soil and the Teutonic Plates.

i like the high key finish to this shot , almost infra red too
