Attempting to copy somethingI saw but although it appears OK, it's not quite the way I wanted it to appear.

Don't know how you wanted it to appear. But I would suggest going back to you description and deleting the last clause and keeping that to yourself. I looks just great to me. Love the effect. Looks particularly good with the white flower.
