Looking south

From our little town of Oamaru. Mostly these mountains are hidden by either cloud or bad visibility!
But as I walked home I thought I could capture this - no tripod so I lock my camera against a power pole and probably look a fool! I don't care.

These are the Kakanui mountains and go up to 1,643 m (5,392 ft).
This is beautiful with that stormy sky yet the snow covered mountains are so clear. The leading line towards the snowy mountains is very cool and that pop of colour sets it off well. Never worry what others think of the stance you have to take to get the shot. Fav.

Lovely to see the mountains on a clear day. The sky looks quite stormy.

@pamknowler Yes we can see the sea as well as mountains on the other side, Pam! One of the nice things about living in NZ

@onewing It wasn't stormy just threatening rain, Babs - and we hardly ever get it in our special area!

Beautiful Maggie , with that sunshine , the stormy skies and the wonderful glimpse of those snow covered mountains in the distance !

@maggiemae I loved NZ when I did a tour of both islands about 10 years ago!! I would love to return - who knows - one day!!

@pamknowler Its still as beautiful,Pam - even better- in spite of the tourists (who know a good thing)

@beryl I expect you don't have mountains as high, Beryl - but your Welsh land is very similar!

Yes, that's why I didn't crop further, Jo - that lovely garden on the left! @jokristina

@inthecloud5 Its cold here at the moment Christine - I remember the hot, hot temps of the desert like places we have just come from and it is different world!

This is rather special Maggiemae, the sky and the mountains are quite breathtaking... shame about that car though!
posted September 14th, 2017
@vignouse Yes, Richard - there was one on the other side too but I could crop that one out. I could have cloned but find its not easy with cars and pavements!
posted September 14th, 2017
@maggiemae Cloning the car out would be way beyond my capabilities... and this was too nice a view to let a little car stop you capturing it,

You have to look carefully at the snow covered mountatins, lest they merge into the white clouds in the sky. You are obviously near some very beautiful scenery.

What a lovely view. Photographers can look silly at times, but those laughing don't ever see the lovely results of their antics.
