My Russian Aunt

In the 1970's my Aunt came to visit from Russia with her granddaughter. Her daughter, Anne visited in 1992 after a lot of bureaucracy and said of us " a remarkable family"! This was when we lived in Auckland.
So glad we got this photo as it was the last time we saw her.
As you can see I had my big and beautiful Irish setter on my knee and Shaun in the other arm. Other son was hugging our cat!
that's a lovely look down memory lane maggie

What a lovely treasured photograph. Don’t you love the look of old photographs? The light and shadows!

@louannwarren You are right, Lou Ann! But the original was not really in focus so it took a bit of editing to improve!

Lovely family portrait. Fond memories.

It works so well to convey your story too, the way the light creates a sense of ghosts of the past against the sharper focus on you, pup and child.

@maggiemae well your editing is wonderful. I love your Setter!

The lighting is gorgeous - I thought at first you'd done some very clever editing to achieve the look of ghostly figures - a lovely keepsake

What a great shot of your family. At first I thought you were your aunt because you mentioned she brought Her granddaughter and I saw the child sitting next to you. I was amazed at the resemblance. Now I realize it was a younger version of you. How great to see you! It’s a fantastic family photo to be treasured

I know you treasure your family pictures as I do mine. I love the sense of personal history they tell and how they make up certain pieces of who we are. What a wonderful memory!
