Married Woman's Kimono

I saw this woman on the subway and analysed her kimono: Black, with a gold and silver obi, extra layer of collar, and gold on the hem--that's very formal. Probably wedding reception. But not extremely formal, as to her kimono accessories and shoes, and her obi is not solid gold colored, so it's not her immediate family that's being married (such as her daughter). And the kimono is crested (stamped with family crests), which is formal...
I looked up "wedding reception" in my iPhone's English/Japanese dictionary and then asked if she was going to a reception. She said yes and I complimented her kimono.
nice one for speaking up :)
