Well-fed rehearsal

Well, Cardiem rehearsals again today... The usual Friday - but who knows for how much longer? Jamie (guitar/vocals) has gone and got himself a day-job, so if he has to work Fridays regularly, it'll be the end of the Cardiem day-long rehearsal as we know it! Not a very savoury thought...

But for today, it was business as usual... Plus, a lot of food - we felt sleepy and under-performed during the morning, so bought an enormous lunch, hoping it would help give us more energy for the afternoon... But it only served to make us even more exhausted, and the rehearsal slumped into a writing, with everyone lying around, muttering half-formed lyrics ideas under their breath!

Not a total waste of time, of course - we've got most of a new song down now, and some exciting ideas to pursue when we're feeling less bloated and full of cake!!

This picture shows the corner of the room, by my drumkit - the corner which I sometimes spend whole days practically living in! You can see the glasses of water, mugs of coffee, plates of cakes, jumbles of leads, pedals, power cables and books that I spent all day wallowing in as I cajoled myself into being "creative"...

I thought it might count as a themed "clutter" shot too, so I tagged it with the "clutter" tag...
Love the half-eaten.. I want to say pizza, am I right? :P Awesome keyboard btw.

It's actually a slice of treacle tart... Glen (the pianist) and I had half each... Actually, we all worked out how many calories we'd eaten, just during the rehearsal - quite a scary result!!
haha, thanks - I don't use that MicroKorg with this band, hence it's standing up against the wall... The flangers I use with it are still in place, though - I was too lazy to move everything out of the way before we started!

Looks like it's got a soundboard on the top, or are the knobs for volume / distortion? Plugged into an amp?
And psh, calories are good. Gotta get energy from somewhere, rehearsals can take a lot out of a person!

ok to rid myself of ignorance i wikipedia-ed what a treacle tart is... it told me it was a traditional English dessert with syrup. Now i dont feel so dumb and i still want to eat it.

Yes indeed... They are extremely nice!!
Yeah, those controllers are just to change the synthesized sounds - envelope distortion, wave form change, etc...

If anyone's really interested, there are some other views of that MicroKorg synth here - http://twitpic.com/zfk6t

Sick keyboardd. (:
Not a full one though? Do you use it in rehearsals or just to input, for notation software and such?

No, there's hardly room for a full-length keyboard in that little corner - not on stage, when I have it on the drumkit...!
I do have a Kawai MP8ii stage piano for "proper" keyboard gigs, which is full length... And I can MIDI up the synths with the MP8ii, as a mater/slave system, if I need extra sounds... I wish I did more synth work - but buying them is so expensive!!

Fair enough. :P
Kawai's a pretty good brand. (:

Indeed! It's a great piano - although heavy, and bulky to carry around!

Small price to pay for a decent keyboard. :P

Of course... :)
But still, different tools for different jobs! Which is also how I justify to my dad an ever-increasing collection of keyboards and synthesizers, drums, cymbals, small percussion bits, effects, hardware, etc...!!
