Dying on Day 96

I guess this amaryllis bulb is dying. The various leaves (shoots?) have been yellowing and shriveling up one by one, and now it's happening to the main one. And I've featured this plant three times before: getting the bulb on Day 18, planting it on Day 33, and its growth on Day 58. Too much water? Too little? No idea.
According to my friend, who does these a lot...probably too much water. She plants hers in a pot with hardly any soil and waters it only when really really dry. But I'm sympathetic...many of my plants end up like this. Try again next spring.

Aww, I have had success with them for no reason I understand! I am greenfingered outdoors but most house plants die on me! Except my amaryllis, which lived. Maybe I forgot to water it and that actually helped, like Kathryn said! Good luck with the next time.

@casablanca I'll have to try again. I think it's right that I over-watered it. I've hardly ever tried to grow any plants, but I was lucky with some sunflowers I grew in the winter in my basement one time.

@farmreporter Thanks, Wendy. The one on the right is still looking alive. Maybe it'll pull through...

I'm so sorry it's dying before it ever bloomed. I've only had amaryllis plants twice and both times they bloomed beautifully but then ended up just like this one after blooming. :-(
