Strength of a Cobra

I tried the “light painting” technical challenge (constructive criticism welcome). In my dark basement, I set the shutter to be open for 30 seconds and moved a flashlight’s light from the lower left to the upper right of the frame. I like how it lit only a few of the bottles in the background as well as the subject. This is a little bottle of “snake whiskey” I brought back from Laos, just across the Mekong River from Thailand, which I visited with my family in 2009. My husband and I tried a shot of snake whiskey to give us the strength of a cobra.

And with this photo, I have completed the first six months of the photo-a-day challenge! If interested, here are two related links on my personal blog:

Thanks for your views and comments -- always much appreciated.

What's in that bottle - venom? Beautiful shot and I like the lighting.

Ooh my! That's a scary way to advertise the whiskey!

@sangwann Thanks, Dione. The shop had various vats and bottles of "whiskey" (actually rice wine) filled with various creatures, in this case a snake and in others scorpions and pangolins. It was thought that drinking the drink would give the drinker some of the creature's strength or offer other health benefits.

Congrats on completing 6 months Marcy! It was neat to see your favourite shots. Your light painting of this rather unusual bottle looks good to me.

@stephanies Thanks for checking them out -- that was fun to put together. I like how this came out except for the overexposed white cap
