LIGHTS ON THE MERSEY by markp

LIGHTS ON THE MERSEY

After yesterdays nearly B&W shot of the lights from the approach road works for the new bridge and Fiddlers Ferry Power Station in the background,
I decided to go back again and have another go.
Even though it was a lot colder, I felt I had to try it why I could, as I might not get many more chances to get it right.
The white spots leading off to the right are lights on a temporary bridge they have built to give them access out to the foundations to the new bridge and I am not sure how long it will be there for. Plus I need a high tide and a still windless night.
Another stunning shot and a Fav. I really must come up your way as my late mother was born and bred in Liverpool and my grandfather took me up to Hoylake and surrounds when I was a child and I haven't been up that way since.

Super shot - like that the detail in the background is not overpowered by the lights

Fantastic night time shot Mark! At first when I saw the clouds or whatever around the new bridge supports I thought they were cooling towers of a nuclear power plant.

@skipt07 Thank you Skip, yes there are cooling towers there in the background, it is a huge coal fired power station. The line of yellow and white lights across the middle of the shot are where there are building the new bridge. The little white lights off to the right of the shot are the temporary bridge, the new bridge is a huge suspension bridge but they are still only working on the bases for the legs so far and the approach roads.

@markp - My bad! Our cooling towers cone shaped, so I thought they were they supports for the new bridge was going to way up high on top. Thank for straightening me out of my confusion.

@skipt07 No problem, keep watching and you will hopefully see it being built.
