Because of your comments, I've decided "Monkey Balls" are a lot like life... They have an ugly side for some - with hurtful spines that look like some ugly bird's beak, and a beautiful side, too - with texture and intelligent design! This is as close up as I can get with my cheap camera. LOL! Maybe 2012 will be a more prosperous year for us all and I can get a nicer camera. Will dream about it anyhow! =)

So awesome focus & detail. I hope you have just a wonderful New Year!!

A perfect photo for ending the year . . you're comment was awesome too, Maggie. This is such a beautiful shot with all the tones and kinds of textures that I love. A FAV for a great pic!
Awesome close-up! I never knew about the existence of monkey balls until I joined 365. Love the textures and shape. It looks like something from outer space to me. Happy New Year!
Beautiful photo. Love the slight over exposure. We called these "conkers" when we were kids. BTW they sent me a pinterest you are on the waiting list email.
@peterdegraaff Thank you, Peter! Yeah, I was right in full sun to get that close. My camera just wouldn't focus on the durn thing in the shade.

great shot...i've learned that if you have a good eye for pictures even the cheapest camera will do...Wish you all the best for the coming year, and maybe there's a nice DSLR in there somewhere!
@urvid Thank you and I do agree! However, close-up like this with a cheap camera isn't always possible. I trouble with the focus on the durn thing, too! Plus it's just too slow for some high speed shots. But, other than that, I make do best as I can. =) Yes, somewhere!
@twinsplusone Sharon, thank you so much! And, thank you for letting me pin my favs or your pics! I'm slowly getting through my favs and adding new ones, too! Since you said I could pin your pics, I'll just let you know by commenting on your original posts - only so you'll know what's been pinned! Happy New Year to you, too!
I really need to play around with some shots of these babies! My only problem is that I know they won't be as near as great as yours! Good job and cheers to a wonderful 2012!
@luvs2scuba2 Thank you, Elaine! But I'm sure you're camera is much better than mine - you should be able to out do more poor attempts easily! =) Let's hope for better times to come in 2012, too!
Ahhh the amazingly magnificent Monkey Ball!! This is a fantastic shot of it! I love the brightness of the photo and the detail within!! Great shot Maggie Mae!!
@heidievans73 LOL! Heidi, I thought of you when I posted it and have been looking for a pair of real small ones for your sock monkey! Ha ha! Shot is a bit over exposed for my taste but I'm working with a cheap camera - what can I say? Thank you for your kind comments and the view!
since you are temporarily out of commission, I decided to look at some of your older shots before I started following you...this is cute. We don't have them here, but when I travel places and see them I always collect one to take home as my souvenir.

Love the lighting!
@cheyrebecca Thank ya, ma'am! Too much sun on the background! But had to have the light to zoom in on the ball. Cheap camera - what can I say? =)
