Winged surprise... Best viewed with the magnifier.

I was not paying attention when I was taking so many pics Friday afternoon after working like a mad woman in the yard! Shame on me! I didn't see these wings on the sourgrass (AKA sheep sorrel) until I downloaded the 300 plus pics from my camera. It's not the best of shots but, I thought these lovely wings deserved their place in my project. Another shot of what is attached to the wings will follow tomorrow.

As some of you know, I am playing catch up with your pics because of yard work. Sometimes until after 2 AM (like last night) and I am NOT complaining about that! I just know that I may have missed some of your great pics and although, I try NOT to miss any... Please don't be shy in letting me know I missed one or some and I will get to them right away, because I hate to miss any! Some of you have ACE memberships and have more than one album. I can't always get to every single one of those, but I do try and enjoy viewing and commenting on your additional album photos when I have the extra time. Thank you for your support! As always, I am appreciative and grateful for it!
Beautiful!

@marlboromaam You are so funny, Maggie. I know what you mean, sometimes we get something we did not expect to get but this is really extraordinary. Both this plant and the wings came out clear but the wings obviously extremely clear. I cannot wait to see what it is. The fun of photography.

April 9th, 2012
@lindag Thank you very much, Linda!

@jaboney Thank you, Mike! You may have to call me on tomorrow's shot if I'm wrong. Making a Google educated guess as to what it is, but I think you'll know since you make flies for fishing.

You are teasing us Maggie. Love that the wings are both sides of the stem and they are so clear. I don't think anyone is going to mind one bit if you miss the occasional photo - as there is no one on here more supportive of other photographers than you. Get some sleep gal!!!

Cool shot, maam. And I like the white circle behind it. I take a lot of pictures too, especially on weekends, and when I go out to Glacier.
April 9th, 2012
What a great surprise Maggie. Love it even if it wasn't planned.
April 9th, 2012
That is very cool! I've done that before - get so wrapped up in the overall shot, that I don't see a great detail until after it's on the computer.
April 9th, 2012
Such a beautiful cap! It looks like the flower can fly :D

April 10th, 2012
Hugs back!! How was your Easter?!
April 10th, 2012

April 10th, 2012
@earthbeone Thank you, Pamela!
April 10th, 2012
Good pic of it. makes him look pretty. One other hint to his identity...were there many of these in the grass and stuff? Usually, if a Mosquito Hawk, there are many of them....
April 10th, 2012
@espyetta LOL! I was sitting in the grass not two feet from it and if there were a lot of bugs, I would've removed myself - real quick! Thing is... I was just shooting the sourgrass and didn't even have my glasses on so I did not see this guy until I downloaded to my computer. Now, I will be searching the sourgrass ever day just to find it again! Ha ha!
April 10th, 2012
@espyetta Suppose this guy was sucking the nectar from the sourgrass flowers?
April 10th, 2012
another lovely shot maggie, your 'hard yard work' seems to be having an inspiring effect on your 365 photos. Well done
