The wild honeysuckle is in bloom. What a heavenly scent! Back in the late 60's and early 70's, there was a company (I believe British), called Yardley and they made honeysuckle perfume. It really did smell just like honeysuckle, too! I loved wearing it, but haven't been able to find it in a very long time. As a kid, along with my cousins, we used to pull the bloom off the vine and suck the nectar out of the blossom. I remember it was sweet like sugar water. I just leave it for my hummers now. =)
Raked until I had blisters today - even with gloves. Oh well! Bath and bite to eat then be right with ya!
Goodness, you just reminded me that we did that too! Totally forgotten! Seeing this delicate portrayal of one flower has determined me to go out and prune ours to get ones like this!
Well mrs, hope you don't mind me saying, I think this sums up how your shots have improved since behind on here- this is a simple and beautiful shot.
Happy weekend and look after yet hands!
What a beautiful photo, Maggie. Love the detail that you captured. Keeping at your yard will get it done faster. Admire your perseverance. Hugs to you.
Really lovely, pretty shot =) love that bokeh too! and i checked you can still get Honeysuckle from Yardley - ebay have it! treat yourself for all that hard work you've been doing!
Pretty picture (( ; yardley I
Know still make soap & a perfume named English lavender so Linda tells me after googling yardley when I mentioned your post :: new campaign about to be launched according to there website .. 15yrs since there last tv add campaign ..
Great shot MM! The bokeh is beautiful, but the flower's stamen gracefully floating up and to the left makes for a terrific composition! I hope that makes sense:)
Such a gorgeous photo! I can almost smell their sweet perfume! Where I grew up, I remember them being in bloom right around the 4th of July, and I remember smelling them as we'd walk to the beach to watch the fireworks.
I love this flower. I was given a Honeysuckle bush years ago when we lived at our other house. I wonder how its doing. I should have dug it up and moved it here. I should drive by and see how big it is getting. I never got to see any flowers on it.
All I can say is YUM YUM!! I loved this as a kid! May have taken forever to pick as many as possible but it was so WORTH IT! Thanks for bringing back memories!
oh, the bokeh is great! and I love honeysuckle, it reminds me of my Grandmother...she had all of those old fashioned flowers in her yard. just the smell of it takes me to her back yard
This is do very delightful! Great focus and background bokeh. We sucked the sugar out of honeysuckle too - Grandma taught us! Yep..I do still once in a while. Not as sweet as the old days though. :-) FAV!

Beautiful shot of honeysuckle. Looks graceful and elegant. I vaguely remember the Yardley range of toiletries and how sweet they smell. Blisters, eep. Hope your hands are feeling better!
Beautiful shot, love honey suckle. Blisters mean the efforts of a hard days work, always think I haven't worked hard enough in the yard if I haven't got one
This is such a beautiful shot! I love the bokeh! fantastic focus! Yardley soap is just wonderful. I will keep my eye out for the perfume. Rest those hands Maggie:) fav

Maggie, great work here (and I don't mean you and your back yard !!!)...love the POV and the bokeh and I love your narrative ...a lovely image to share with us all
I'd love that perfume. I might not wear it, but would spray it around the house. haha I just saw this season's first honeysuckle too. On a photo walk....I tried to get a pic..nothing too great. Yours is a nice one!
Beautiful. I can almost smell that sweet scent. We use to pick these flowers when I was a kid. We'd bite of the bottom, pull out the center and taste the sweet honeysuckle.
Happy weekend and look after yet hands!
Put some cream and pamper your hands.
