Wild American Holly (Ilex opaca)... by marlboromaam

Wild American Holly (Ilex opaca)...

There are lots of these little wild holly trees growing on my little patch of woods, but this is the very first time I've seen any berries appear on one. A very delightful find! This is NOT the cultivated-nursery-bought holly shrubbery planted around my little house. This is a WILD and FREE variety and therefore - much more special to me!

I remember my parents hanging one branch in the house for the end of the year celebration. I’ve never seen some in the wild. Fantastic find!

Under the holly tree. Lovely shot but I don't like those needle-like spikes, they could be dangerous especially for the little ones.
