Intimate landscape...

Shot in black and white. The ground is littered with water oak acorns and pine tree catkins in the middle front yard. Normally, the deer and the squirrels pick it clean. Not the case this year and I wonder why.

It's a great up-close picture and the black and white enhances the textures. Interesting observation, I'd like to know what happens with deers and squirrels?

The detail is wonderful. At first glance I thought they were seashells.

Nice detail and I now know what those pine 'thingies' are called. ( https://www.srs.fs.usda.gov/compass/2018/02/01/climate-influences-male-female-balance-in-longleaf-pines/ ). Maybe the catkins have a different taste with the change in climate?

@joysabin Thank you! I don't think the squirrels and deer eat the the loblolly pine tree catkins. Maybe some birds, but there are an awful lot of leftover acorns this year which is surprising to me.
