We have been fighting to save our local art college from closure for the past 30 months. It was taken over by Warwickshire College Group and their intentions are to asset strip our historic college and sell the land to build another nursing home. They are taking legal action to attempt to remove an educational covenant so that they make maximum profits. All this leaves the town of Malvern without a thriving art and further education college. We have the funds to buy the building back, and a superb business plan, but WCG are just greedy and have no cares for the people of Malvern. Shame on them.
@helenhall There is still hope. Our MP is talking to the education secretary about it and we just have to pray we are successful. I think I have been the longest running student there. I started going there in 1989 when I was a young mother, and then as a direct result of going there I went onto Hereford College of Arts and obtained my degree in Fine Art (BA Hons). I still paint and obviously I photograph!
@randystreat okay! One side wants to keep a successful well loved historic art college that included some FE courses in our town, and the other side who took over the running of the college by default and with no financial outlay, want to steal the assets at the highest price possible to fund their main college in a different country from Malvern. It isn’t a debate, it is an immoral takeover and theft.
