Cepaea Nemoralis

After a tough week at work we were doing some garden labor today. We saved many snails, worms, centipedes (fav game on the C64 back in the old days :-), pow bugs and even a small salamander while plowing.

We followed the snail's pace which seemed good for a relaxing day. Even the rain took it's time and only started late in the afternoon.

A snail should watch out for humans, moles, mice, hedgehogs (I'm not sure about Sonic), frogs and birds of course. Especially thrushes! But the biggest enemy is the sun. If you want to get rid of your snails give them some cool shady place to hide. You can then pick them up and bring the snails to a park or give them to your neighbors until they return.

Do you know where the eyes are?
Yes, at the tip of the long tentacles since this is a land snail. But most snails live in water and marine snails have their eyes located at the base of the tenracles!
What a great close up of a snail; I like the colors and the bokeh of this shot! Glad to read that you've saved all these animals! :-)
