A Special Visitor

Two sisters and their husbands came on my cave tour today. The three on the left were in good physical condition, in their late 60s to early 70s. The gentleman on the right is 86 years old and has severe trembling in his hands. The tour involves a mile of walking through the cave with an 80 foot (27 m) descent and ascent. My new friend handled the tour with great stoicism, even though it was very difficult for him. He is a retired geologist and was determined to do this. I so admired his determination and great attitude. I liked him even more when I found out his name is Ray--my father's name.
What a beautiful portrait and good on Ray for making the effort to get thru the caves. I bet you smiled when he told you his name :)

You must be fit yourself, going through the caves. How nice that Ray made that effort to do the whole tour. It must be hard getting old and your body starts to fail you.

What a trooper! Where was this group from? I hope Ray got to see even more geological parks out west. Not only does your job provide you with daily exercise, it lets you meet interesting people from all over the world and practice your amazing talent of storytelling.

@cejaanderson Jane, they've lived in a variety of places around the country, but have just moved. The couple on the right (Ray and his wife) live in Los Lunas, and the couple on the left live in Rio Rancho! Maybe you'll run into them some day.

Good for him for him for making the walk. It is hard to talk portraits in the caverns, and you did a great job with this one!
