Tulum by mbrutus

Tulum

Tulum was a most interesting archeological site built by the Mayans. These stone walls were originally stucco and painted decoratively with scenes honoring their deities. It was one of the few Mayan cities still inhabited when the Spanish arrived. Once the city was abandoned, the jungle quickly reclaimed it. Archeologists eventually discovered the ruins. The work of studying and restoring the city has been ongoing ever since. Only hundreds of feet behind this walls lies the Caribbean Sea.
Beautifully captured

I do remember! I was there in 2004 and loved without reserve... Sadly, the ocean was really rough so little scope for swimming with a view on the ruins...
