LEW_2154A - Food Cart 35th Street

One of my favorite subjects for photos in New York is the ubiquitous food card. They have greatly evolved since the humble pushcarts that graced the city sidewalks when I resided there several decades ago. But they remain a sturdy thread which binds the tapestry of the street life of the city. Though street food has taken on a lofty place in the culinary echelons of some cities, in New York, I still think it should mostly be reserved for those with more desperate need for food served with heaping helpings of convenience.
Things change don’t they. First snap dogs now veggie burgers. What is this world coming to.

The city at night - particularly NYC - is a fascinating place to shoot. Wish I was in to photography back when I spent more time there - now that's going back!

The ubiquitous food cart + Duane Reade = NYC. I once spent some time talking to a food cart owner who had moved to the suburbs and opened a strip-mall Mediterranean restaurant -- and was planning to move back into the city and get a new food cart because he had such better business there. So many stories with each food cart.
