I watched this red-tailed hawk for quite a while. First he swooped into the undergrowth but came up empty. Then he tried perching in a small bush but almost got caught up in all the tiny branches. Finally he landed and walked around for a bit. I suspect his prey was hiding in the thicket of bushes and he was trying to figure out how to get it. He finally gave up and flew up to perch on some electrical wires.

Gosh, did you ever get a good close-up of him - I missed two chances today - wouldn't stay put but a second - each time moving further away. Love your shot.
Now you have some fantastic patience. I see these hawks from time to time but before I can get anywhere close to ready they are soaring into the wild blue yonder. Great shot.
