I messed around with this a little in picasa and used one of the templates to edit this shot, thought it had a nice quality.

I like the boat at the front - how it looks like it's leaning over compared to the others standing proud with their masts.
Like the line of the pier through the frame too.

Hmmmm .... not my fav of yours, McD. I like the walkway / jetty thingie leading the eye out but would have cropped it tighter. Less sky. More to the thirds rule (which I certainly don't follow slavishly!!). Oh dear, truly hope I haven't offended!!! Which Picasa template did you use?

There's something about the colour of the sea and the sky that throws this picture off for me, but I can't put my finger on it! Looks like a lovely day

It has the feel of an old photograph. I'm with @sharnic about the sky and sea not going together.
@kwiksilver heh! respect your honesty... it is rare for anyone to be brave enough to say they don't like a pic. Mc D is a big boy.. I am sure he can take it ;) x

@calx I think we should be "honest" in our responses to pics. That's the way we will "grow". Maybe this was sparked by a thread I've been following recently about people leaving 365. I certainly didn't mean to offend.

Thanks for all the comments guys:-)
@kwiksilver it's not my favorite either. My motivation is thin on the ground at the moment. I took two pictures that day and they were dull. It was the 1960s template that I used; it gives the odd color tint that @sharnic noted.

The problem with cropping was that it did not turn out to be easy to keep the only interesting feature - the slipway - and a decent aspect ratio.
@calx you're right, I don't mind an honest viewpoint in the slightest.

Thanks, McD. I've tried that 1960s template on a few pics and haven't yet saved anything using it. Fair enough on the cropping aspect - thanks for explaining :) At least @calx recognised the "old" feel of the pic! ("old" as in the 60s!)
