Johnny Kaw 1 by mcsiegle

Johnny Kaw 1

From my walk around the City Park on Friday. The (IMO ugly but by now iconic) statue of Johnny Kaw, who is a modern day mythic figure, like Paul Bunyan, invented for the city's centennial in 1955.

Another shot of Johnny Kaw (just his feet) here:

Nice pov!

The statue looks enormous. It does look a bit like Paul Bunyan.

Given the surreal nature of the statue, this dramatic PoV works perfectly. Nice one, Mary.

@38dcmoder Thanks Dawn. I tried to find some interesting POV for shots of it.

@alicias Thanks. Yeah, except no Babe the Blue Ox or lumberjack clothes. The made up story has Johnny Kay carving out the riverbed for the Kansas (or Kaw) river.

@vignouse Thanks. I'm glad you think the POV works. Surreal is a polite way to put it.

@kareenking That's OK, Kareen. He's not a universally known character. Though I would think you'd have seen the big honking statue in the City Park during your time at K-State.
