One-light Lighting by mcsiegle

One-light Lighting

For the technique challenge. The one light was my iPod, because the light that the flashlight gave was too harshly focused.

This is a large ball of rubber bands that was started long ago and then continued by student assistants in my office. When I started working there in June of 2012, I decided I needed the space on the desk that it was using up. So I put it on the windowsill. Over the last year and 1/2 some of the rubber bands have dried out from the heat coming up from the heating unit below the window. The other day I looked at it, and decided it should be put out its misery. I started picking it apart and as I was peeling off layers of the thing one of the faculty members came in and said, "Oh...you're taking apart the ball?" He didn't seem unduly broken up about it, but perhaps some in the department had a bit of sentimental attachment. I liked the look of the curled up bits I had taken off -- juxtaposed against the still sizable ball. So I brought it home and made it a photography project.
Great textures here!! Thanks for the views/favs today and the follow!

Effective in B&W. Play of light and shadow is lovely.
