ONS10 Day Six

For day six of the current One Night Stand -- low light.
Hi Mary,
I'm you get pushed partner for this week. I've just had a look through the last few months of your album and you have some wonderful photos here. I can see that you use lighting beautifully in your photographs, so for this week I'd like you to building your lighting skills and take a portrait shot using RIM lighting. Is this something that you are able to do equipment, lighting etc…. that you may have around the house?

Oops …. I forgot to mention that I'm having an operation tomorrow which will see me with my left arm in a sling for 5 weeks. So when you issue your get pushed challenge to me can you go gentle on me:)

@deborah63 Hi, Debbie. Thanks for the challenge. I can try -- I don't know what I'll get. At the moment I'm down to my iPod Touch because the camera is dead. I did a Google search on Rim lighting setup -- gulp! I have mostly overhead, under cabinet, table, or floor lamps. I think the only realdirectional lights I have are flashlights and the like. Stay tuned and we'll see...

Excellent to say you are restricted at the moment. Good luck with your challenge, do yo have angle poise lamps? Would they be right?just a thought.

@deborah63 Debbie, I feel kind of sheepish asking since you gave me a wonderful B&W with great lines all with your arm in a sling, but could you possibly give me a different challenge. I'm having a hard time imagining how I can do that with the lights I have at home. And right now I'm a bit busy with several commitments, so just don't have the time to think it through and come up with a creative solution. Whatever else you come up with (that doesn't involve specific camera settings because my iPod just doesn't have them), I promise I'll give you something! Please?

@denidouble Thanks for the suggestion. I don't have any of those. Wish I did. The only lamp I can direct at more than one angle is one like you often find used on top of a piano. The wide lamp can be angled in an up or down way. I hope you know what I'm talking about. Otherwise my lamps cast off their light in all directions. At some future point I should invest in a few lights that could be used that way.
