The charred remains

When we were gathered on Christmas Day, my brother Pat said that out on the land our family used to own, the open shed we called the "Great Wall of China" had burned and fallen in some months ago. Sometime during my childhood or teens (I can't remember when) our dad and uncle built a large stone wall into the hillside near the old, now-dilapidated house, and put a metal shed roof coming out from it and supported by tall poles. Machinery was stored under the shed to protect from the weather. Pat said that some guys that had been burning pasture for the man who now owns the land left before the burn was completely finished and fire was definitely out. It burned the poles which collapsed along with the roof on top of whatever was stored in there. This is just a closeup detail of the wreckage I saw for myself on Tuesday when I took a walk out there.
Unless it wasn't used (and it sounds as if there were things stored there) this is a shame. I like the lines and textures in this this shot.

Dave Nelson, who bought the place from Dad and Uncle Don did have things stored in there. I'm not sure what all -- hard to tell what's underneath the twisted sections of metal roof, but I'm posting a photo on my Alternates Album that will show at least one thing. http://365project.org/mcsiegle/Alternates/2016-12-25
