Family History

My get pushed partner, Margo Sayer, @s4sayer gave me this challenge: "a still life which relates to what you value most or to what you aspire" Family is high on the list of what I value the most. And genealogy is a passion. I aspire to hone my family research skills. Here you see:
* a book on Land and Property Research, along with an abstract of the land my dad grew up on and that was his grandparents' land - part of which was obtained through the Homestead Act.
* a book entitled "Montgomery and Somerville Families" detailing my mother's Montgomery ancestors, and a couple of lockets, one of which was her mother's with pictures of my grandfather in it, and the other was her grandmother Montgomery's with a picture of her grandfather inside.
* a print from microfilm of the Salina Journal, with a piece on the marriage of her maternal grandparents.
* my father's handwritten notes on what his Aunt Rachel (sister of my grandfather) told him about their siblings, uncles, cousins etc. If you look carefully, you can see she said her cousin Joseph was "a drunkard" (from my research, that appears to be true) and that cousin Mary "ran off with a circus." Oh how I would love to find proof of that! I was so in love with the circus as a child, even though I never had seen one live. Mary did leave sometime between the 1875 KS census and the 1880 federal census and was not heard from again. When her father (my grandfather's uncle) died, her siblings had to have her declared presumed dead so they could probate her portion of the sale of the farm and distribute it among the rest of them.
* a pitcher that was Frank's paternal grandmother's
* a little figurine of Red Riding Hood that I think my mother had when she was a girl.
* and photos -- the double frame in front has pictures of me (on the left) and Frank (on the right). The large picture is my mother and aunt as girls. In the back are Frank's grandfather and grandmother Siegle about the time of their marriage; and the smaller photo to the right shows Frank's maternal grandparents holding him as a baby.
@s4sayer Here is my response to the challenge you gave me.

What treasures to have and use to research your family. The way you put them together in this composition is very pleasing too.

Hi Mary I am your get pushed partner for the week.
How about:
1 A food photo. For a magazine. OR
2 A macro photo of your choice.

Hope this is something you would like to do. Enjoy.

@sdutoit Thanks, Sylvia. I'll see what I can do with one of those choices.

Interesting to read this Mary and to see the objects and how you arranged them. Your editing is really nice too.
