At Petco Saturday a.m. to find cats for my get pushed challenge from Kathy Boyles @kathyboyles. She wanted a minimalist photo of a cat. I'm not sure this is minimalist enough. So I'll ask Kathy what she thinks.
I love the macro claw and paw. I thought you had a cat tophoto! Sorry you had to go find one. The other photograph has more minimalism, but it is good. Here is what I would have done in this case. I would GOOGLE 'minimalist cat photos' to get some ideas.
@kathyboyles No worries, Kathy. We used to have two old cats, but I think they both had died by the time I started 365. You're thinking of my "grandkitty" Nelo (my son's cat). She won't be visiting again for a couple of months. And I don't know what has happened to Peanut who used to live next door. But I haven't seen her in a very long time. Across the street there were two cats, but those folks moved away... I thought of going out to my brother's house outside of town and photographing one of his two, but both he and I are busy helping my mom clear out the apartment she is giving up and move her stuff into the private room she is now in -- all in Meadowlark Hills. Anyway, I DO love cats and it was a great excuse to go in search of them. We may adopt another cat one of these days. And you'll be the first person I tell if we do as I know you also are a cat lover.
@grammyn You're right. Not so much minimalist really. Tending toward abstract, though not quite. I applied a "night vision" effect for this version. Also tried a couple of other filter/effects but thought this one was the most strangely menacing (eye and claw). Really the cat was very friendly and eager for contact so kept sticking its paw through the hole. she/he was paired with the biggest cat I ever saw -- a huge black cat. The sign said they were found and caught together and at first thought to be feral, but after they acclimated to their new situation were found to be strongly bonded to each other and were, hopefully to be adopted together.
